Description

These baked buffalo chicken sliders on Hawaiian rolls are an easy make-ahead party sandwich recipe perfect for game day or casual entertaining. Sweet rolls, spicy shredded chicken, and melty cheese baked with garlic butter tops.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups (350g) cooked shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) buffalo sauce (click here for easy homemade recipe)
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls (1 package)
  • 3/4 cup (85g) shredded mozzarella cheese)
  • 1/2 cup (60g) blue cheese crumbles (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons (42g) butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350℉.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken with buffalo sauce. Toss until evenly coated. The chicken should be moist but not overly saturated.
  3. Using a serrated knife, slice the entire sheet of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally without separating them. Place the bottom half in your greased / lined baking dish.
  4. Spread buffalo chicken evenly over the bottom layer. Top with mozzarella / Monterey Jack and blue cheese if using. Place the top layer of rolls over the filling.
  5. Mix melted butter with garlic powder and smoked paprika. Brush generously over the tops of the rolls.
  6. Cover loosely with foil (or a lid if your bakeware has one). Bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil / lid and bake an additional 8 – 10 minutes, or until cheese is fully melted and the tops are golden brown. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing to allow cheese to set slightly.

Notes

  • For milder flavor, reduce buffalo sauce to 1/3 cup.
  • For extra crisp tops, broil 1 – 2 minutes at the end.
  • Add ranch drizzle before serving for added richness.
