InstantPot Apple Butter (No Sugar Added)

Description

Cozy, naturally sweet apple butter made in the InstantPot – no refined sugar required! Perfect on toast, oatmeal, or as a baking ingredient.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 pounds of apples (Fuji, Gala, Granny Smith & Honeycrisp), cored and sliced
  • 1 cup water (or swap with apple cider)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon*
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves*
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg*
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (added after cooking)

*Substitute 1 1/2 – 2 teaspoons of Homemade Apple Pie Spice for the cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.


Instructions

  1. Add apples and water to the InstantPot.
  2. Stir in cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt (or Homemade Apple Pie Spice).
  3. Secure lid, set to Manual (High Pressure) for 20 minutes.
  4. Allow a natural release for 15 – 20 minutes, then vent remaining pressure.
  5. Switch to Sauté mode and simmer for 10 – 15 minutes, stirring often.
  6. Cool, then blend until smooth using an immersion blender, or transfer to a blender and blend until smooth.
  7. Stir in vanilla extract and let completely cool before storing.

Notes

  • Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for the best flavor
  • Add maple syrup or honey for extra sweetness if desired
  • Store refrigerated for up to 2 weeks or freeze for 3 months
