Description
Fudgy chocolate sea salt brownies made with coconut sugar, melted butter, and dark chocolate chips. One-bowl method with a crackly top and perfectly chewy center.
Ingredients
WET INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 cup coconut sugar (sub with brown sugar)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
DRY INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free 1:1 flour blend
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
ADD-INS
- 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- Flaky sea salt for finishing
Coconut sugar adds a gentle caramel note that pairs beautifully with dark chocolate.
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan : Preheat the oven to 350℉ and line an 8 x 8 – inch pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy removal.
- Mix Wet Ingredients : Whisk melted butter and coconut sugar until glossy and smooth. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well between each addition. Stir in vanilla. Whisking thoroughly helps create that signature crackly brownie top.
- Add Dry Ingredients : Add cocoa powder, flour, and fine sea salt. Fold each ingredient gently until just combined. Do not over mix.
- Add Chocolate Chips : Fold in chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
- Bake : Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Bake for 22 – 26 minutes. Doneness cue : the edges should be set and slightly pulling from the pan. The center should look just set with a slight soft jiggle. A toothpick should come out with moist crumbs, not wet batter.
- Finish with Flaky Sea Salt : Cool for 10 minutes, then sprinkle with flaky sea salt across the top while still slightly warm. Allow to cool completely before slicing for clean edges.
